Toyota's New Corolla Touring Sports Wagon

According to chatter all across the auto-sphere, Toyota is set to debut an all-new Corolla Touring Sports wagon model at this year's Paris Auto Show in just a few weeks.

And it looks really good.

Toyota isn't exactly known for avant garde styling or futuristic designs, and its economical cars are usually the definition of "practicality"--but, the Corolla Touring Sports is making practical look poised, collected, and sporty.

There's no set expectation that the Corolla Touring Sports will even be offered to the US market--a market where currently, the SUV is king and wagons are sadly, quietly, disappearing--but since it's built on the same platform (the Toyota New Global Architecture) as the Corolla sedan and the new Corolla iM hatchback, it's possible that we could see it.

Details About the New Corolla Wagon

What is this new Toyota Corolla wagon?

It's currently a Euro-spec-only variant of the classic new Corolla that we get over here in the United States, with a longer wheelbase and an elongated roofline. It stretches back farther than the hatchback model does, but offers a sleeker, sportier look than a hatch.

Standard power is expected to come from a 116-horsepower 1.2-liter turbocharged engine, but the Corolla Touring Sports will also offer a hybrid powertrain running on either a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter or 180-horsepower 2.0-liter gas engine.

Specs for cargo and passenger volume aren't public, but we can assume that the Corolla Touring Sports would offer more cargo space than the 20.8 cubic feet found in the Corolla iM hatchback.

We're looking forward to the Paris Auto Show to learn more about this unique new Corolla wagon.
